About Us

India Community Development Service Society (ICDSS)

We aim to establish a society where rights and entitlements for the vulnerable in Karnataka.

"Registered as a Society in 1983, ICDSS was started by a group of social workers with the primary objective to eradicate poverty and facilitate the processes to uplift or improve the lives of the urban poor, rural poor, persons in need and vulnerable to different forms of neglect, stigma and discrimination. They believed in supporting the beneficiaries’, especially those living below the poverty line and low income groups, to access to opportunities in the following manner: - Sensitization on various issues related to their welfare and improvement of lives - To support them to come out of their poverty levels - Linkages/ referrals to social entitlements - Capacity building programs ICDSS also works with different Government Department and offices, especially those in infrastructure related offices, and works with them to streamline various operations. This results in not only in better utilization of Government resources and benefits to the citizens.

Our Programs

Skill Development for Youth

National level - max population is in the working age group, need to provide professionally conducted income friendly vocational course for large youth base from low income families. Direct interaction with beneficiaries, capable to doing multiple type of work related to implementation of programmes, right from field work to placement

Urban Homeless

Growing number of urban homeless due to migration from villages and towns, leading to individuals and families living on the street, facing hunger, disease, threats, abuse, lack of dignity and respect. Direct interaction with beneficiaries, ability to handle any type of contingencies even with a small team, good team cooperation and spirit, leadership qualities

Water and Sanitation

Lack of proper water and sanitation infrastructure, lack of proper payment of water bills, wastage of water, lack of proper water utilization resources. Collection of arrears, streamlining billing cycle ensures adequate water and sanitation infrastructure In sensitized slum communities, reduction in water usage, proper usage of water among different stakeholders - schools, colleges and slum communities

Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration at Night Shelters

On dated 18-09-2023 under the guidance of Dr. Ramachandrappa H T we celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi in our 6 night shelters (Goodshed Road-2, Ram Mandira, Upparpete - 1, SR Nagar 1& 2, Kodigehalli-2) of India Community Development Services Society (ICDSS),all the shelter residents and staffs was involved setting up an idol of Lord Ganesha, offering prayers, performing rituals and having prasadam. It's heartwarming to such celebrations are taking place in night shelters, as it can bring a sense of community and spirituality to those who may be facing challenging circumstances. Ganesh Chaturthi is a time for unity, devotion, and seeking blessings for a better future, and celebrating it in a night shelter demonstrates the inclusive and resilient spirit of the festival. Celebration of Constitution Day !!!!

On Constitution Day i.e.15-09-2023 under the initiative of GoK (Government of Karnataka) Govt. of Karnataka, it's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and reflect upon the principles that our great nation, India, was built upon. The Constitution of India is not just a legal document; it's the backbone of our democracy and a symbol of our unity in diversity. To be a part of this historic moment i.e. to read out preamble at one place and one time, virtually or physically under the guidance of Dr. Ramachandrappa H T our staffs of ICDSS (India Community Development Service Society) and residents of night shelters, let us come together to read out the preamble and reaffirm our commitment to the values enshrined in it. "We, the people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic and to secure to all its citizens: Justice, social, economic, and political; Liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith, and worship; Equality of status and opportunity; And to promote among them all fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation; As we recite these words, let us remember the importance of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity in our daily lives. Let us strive to make our nation a better place for all its citizens, regardless of their circumstances. 77th Independence Day Celebration

On 15-08-2023, the residents and staff members of Night Shelter situated at Goodshed Road, Upparpete, Ram Mandir, Sampangi Ramana Nagar 1 & 2 and Yelahanka under the Guidance of Secretary of ICDSS came together to celebrate the 77th Independence Day of our nation. The event aimed not only to commemorate the historic occasion but also to foster a sense of unity, community, and patriotism among the shelter's residents and staff.

Blanket Distribution at Night Shelter by Annapoorneshwari SHG Group

On dated 17.03.2023 members of Sri Annapoorneshwari Self Help Group visited one of our Night shelter which is at Ram Mandir. They distributed Blankets to Shelter residents to mark on the occasion of International Women's Day by cutting cake and distributed sweets among shelter residents and staffs. We are thankful to all the members of SHG group to grace the occasion by their presence.

08th March, 2023 , It was privilege for all the residents of night shelters and staffs as well as Members of Management of respective Network NGO's to be a part of of movie 19.20.21 Shrunga BV based on the true story of a student`s life turns upside down when he is arrested for his connection with the Naxals and the phase he gone through entire his whole life.

NIGHT SURVEY CONDUCTED BY SHELTER STAFF

Night Survey conducted near majestic area, city railway station, bus stand by our shelter staff to identify homeless people. Our staff's identified 12 homeless people and given about the information about night shelter and its facilities.
